Ruby

Ruby is the most valuable variety of the corundum mineral species, which also includes sapphire.

Ruby can command the highest prices of any colored gemstone. The per carat prices of fine-quality rubies have been rising consistently, many times breaking auction records.

Color is the most important quality factor for Ruby

Ruby value depends on how visible inclusions are.

A ruby's crystal shape dictates its suitability for certain cuts.

Fine-quality rubies over one carat are very rare.

A technical report for Montepuez Ruby Mining (MRM) estimated a life of mine plan to produce about 431 million carats of rubies (including 5.8 million carats of โ€œpremiumโ€ ruby), with forecast gross revenue of about USD 5.96 billion over the life of mine.

The Montepuez Ruby Mining (MRM) operation in Cabo Delgado is the largest ruby mine in Mozambique and one of the largest in the world. A 2024โ€“2025 expansion project will triple MRMโ€™s processing capacity from 200 to 600 tons of ore per hour, allowing processing of an estimated 1.48 million tons of ruby bearing ore and significantly increasing potential output.

Certification Reports Log

All ninety-seven (97) rubies are individual, natural corundum, natural ruby of purplish-red color with no indications of heating. Also, there are only two rubies that have a Step Cut Cutting Style (GIA #86 & #87 shown in the log below) and the other 95 rubies all have a Cabochon Cutting Style.

One big recent driver of why imports have increased is actually tariff disruption, which changed trade flows in 2025: loose colored stones were historically duty-free, but new country-specific tariffs and customs scrutiny raised costs and complexity. That means the import increase is happening in a market with both stronger demand and greater policy friction.

Five supported reasons the colored gemstone import market has been rising are: 1) Shifting consumer taste toward color; 2) Premiumization and luxury demand; 3) Younger buyers value distinctive jewelry; 4) Ethical sourcing and traceability matter more; and 5) The USA depends heavily on imports.

Proof of Life Video

This video was taken on March 25, 2026, inside UltraVault Safe Depository Services by MALCA-AMIT, in Los Angeles, of The Royal Ruber Collection's ninety-seven (97) rubies alongside their GIA Certification Reports.

In this video you'll see the actual shapes of the rubies much better than the GIA Certification Reports show and you can easily see the sheen on these polished rubies. These gemstones are absolutely beautiful and certain, if used to create fine-jewelry, to become a statement piece and a very lucrative investmentโ€”contact Steven Zale to make an exit plan or for further questions.
